Testimonials from Frederick's ATA

Done correctly, Taekwondo can be an excellent activity for older men and women. In the three years that I have trained with Mrs. Frederick my flexibility, my balance, my strength, my endurance, and even my memory have all improved markedly. Starting at age 56, I had to be very careful of my joints. Mrs. Frederick worked closely with me encouraging me to challenge myself, but also letting me listen to my own body to find my own rate at which to progress. This year, with her encouragement I received 2 silver medals and a bronze in my age group at ATA's world championship tournament.

My family has been involved in Taekwondo for over 3 years. My son, when he was 5, decided that he wanted to take martial arts. Luckily, we found Mrs. Frederick and her ATA school. She emphasizes both the physical and mental aspects of martial arts. He has learned a lot of self- discipline through classes. Soon after my son joined, my daughter, then 8, decided she didn't want to just sit and watch; she wanted to be out on the floor, too, learning kicks and punches. She has enjoyed the mental challenge of Taekwondo, learning forms and pushing herself to do better. About 6 months later, the rest of the family joined the club (Mom, Dad, and younger brother). We have enjoyed participating in Taekwondo as a family. Now 4 black belts later (the youngest child is still working towards his), I can wholeheartedly recommend the program to both adults and children. I can see the changes in myself (increased flexibility and balance, more self assurance, and increased physical fitness) as well as in my children (increased self discipline, focus, flexibility, and self esteem).

Because we know that Taekwondo emphasizes not just physical development but also the spiritual and moral development of martial artists. We want to share and let you know how much we have appreciated what our Karissa has accomplished and the help your academy has been in her growth.

Sincerely, Charlie and Betty McCarthy
